Christmas. Celebration or Survival? This new pack was written by women for women, women of all ages, in different circumstances, but with one thing in common; they somehow feel let down by Christmas. The sessions in this pack begin early enough in the year for decisions to be made together about any change they might want to make but allowing space to reflect after Christmas on the stories and, if appropriate, to support each other through the grey days of the early New Year. £9.00 + p&p

More Than Just TinselAssemblies for Advent and Christmas for Secondary Schools The build up to Christmas is a manic time of the year. It is so busy that we hardly have time to be still, quiet and reflect. These assemblies offer some of that reflective space - where young folk can articulate something of the spiritual in their lives; where they may be challenged on issues of justice in the world; a space where they can seek out and search for answers to those ultimate questions of life. The Christmas TreeThis book has ideas about how the Christmas tree might add to worship and in fact might even become central to it in the season of Advent (and beyond). To allow the tree to tell the Christmas story does not detract from its beauty but we hope adds a new dimension. For some excerpts from the Christmas Tree click here and here. Star Box – A Special GiftIn this beautiful hand made star box is a thought for each day of Advent written on a star shape. Taking a moment to reflect on the meaning of Christmas and the Good News for the world today helps to change the emphasis of Christmas preparations; last year some commented on the sense of journey towards the 25th December, others that it became a special moment in the day. This beautiful box is made by women in the slums of Bangkok as part of a small cooperative known as Hot Chilli! Many of the poorest women in Thailand are forced into prostitution or illegal activity such as drugs or stealing as a way to feed their families. Hot Chilli offers an alternative and the project not only gives an income but also pride and dignity to the women. As a recent visitor commented: "They weren't looking for a handout, just a better chance in life." For a sample click here. £6.50 + p&p |
